1 Match the expiry to the task #
- 1 day — incident notes, one-off handovers, anything superseded tomorrow.
- 7 days — review drafts, sprint logs, a build report someone must act on this week.
- 30 days — onboarding notes and long-running reviews.
- Never — reference material that stays valid, never credentials.
Expiration limits future access; it does not withdraw copies that were already taken.
When you are ready to publish, creating a share link without an account walks through the rest of the flow.
2 Keep creator links available #
- When a paste is created, CopyPasta returns separate edit and delete URLs.
- Those links are secret capabilities: no account is attached, and possession is the permission.
- The browser library on the creating device can store them — copy them elsewhere if you may switch devices.
- Never post a creator link in a group chat; send it to yourself and keep it out of shared histories.
Warning
Losing the delete link means the paste can no longer be removed through the interface. Treat both links like a password, and check device settings before clearing site data.
For material that should never be pasted at all, see protecting sensitive text.
